Kyle Andrews’ latest CD, “Brighter Than the Sun,” delivers a selection of warm, danceable indie pop from the Nashville-based singer-songwriter. This is Andrews’ fourth full-length CD since 2006, with a couple of EPs thrown in along the way.  His declaration of, “I make music that makes people happy,” certainly shines brightly here.

The Way to Wonder starts like a typical indie-folk tune with acoustic guitar but builds to a big, bubbly finish with many musical layers. This is by far my favorite track on the CD. Lion is a really strong opener to the 10-song set. The song features lightly tripping and floating synths with an excellent rhythm track and nice changes in dynamics — punctuated by handclaps. Andrews’ upper register vocals create a strong hook.

Exfoliare (Gotta Make Moves) is a shimmering synth creation that leads into a bigger, bolder almost-power pop arrangement. And Crystal Ball provides pulsing synths and catchy, danceable beats that make this another potential single from the CD.

If you’re looking for some fun music that quite possibly will “make you happy,” Kyle Andrews’ latest is worth a listen.
